ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Puerto Rico knows what the storm is.
Not as a metaphor — but as a lived, collective experience, etched into the memory of every generation. The island has faced hurricanes that swept everything away, moments when the sky turned black and the wind bent the palm trees almost to breaking. And yet, Puerto Rico has always done the same thing: wait for it to pass, rise up, and carry on.
ROBGALAR captures in this work that sacred instant that only those who have lived through the storm truly know: the moment after. When the sky begins to open and the first clean light of the sun breaks through the heavy clouds. When the air smells of wet earth and new beginnings. When the colors of the Caribbean landscape emerge with an intensity that only exists after the rain — the trees more green, the sky more blue, everything more brilliant.
DESPUÉS DE LA TORMENTA is a portrait of Puerto Rican resilience made into art. Not the drama of the hurricane, but the calm that comes after — that calm which can only be earned by having gone through something great and having survived it. It is the work for those who know that the most beautiful thing about Puerto Rico is not that it never falls, but that it always, always rises again.
For the diaspora who lived through the island’s storms from afar — following the news with a heavy heart, sending aid, praying from a distance — this piece is an embrace. A reminder that the island still stands, stronger than before, as beautiful as ever. For the collector, it is a work with soul: artistic and deeply human at the same time.
Available in six sizes — from the intimate 12"×18" to the monumental 40"×60" — this work fills any space with the powerful serenity that only exists after having overcome something great.
Produced with premium FSC-certified sustainably sourced materials, each canvas maintains vibrant colors and sharp details that last for decades. The pine wood frame and included mounting hardware make it ready to display from the moment you receive it.
